You are three hours from Marrakech and standing in front of North Africa’s highest waterfall. One hundred and ten metres of white water thunder down three tiers of red-ochre rock into a mist-filled gorge. The air is cool.
Wild Barbary macaques move through the olive trees around you. Below, a natural pool glitters in the afternoon light.
This is Ouzoud — and it is nothing like anything you will find in the medina.
The Private Ouzoud Waterfalls Day Trip from Marrakech is a full day in one of Morocco’s most powerful natural landscapes. Your private driver collects you at 8:00 AM, handles everything on the road, and returns you to your

No shared minibus. No fixed group pace. No strangers. Just your group, a certified guide if you want one, and one of the most spectacular natural sites in Africa within arm’s reach of Morocco’s most visited city.

🗺️ What to Expect
Departure from Marrakech — 8:00 AM
Your private driver collects you directly from your hotel, riad, or apartment in Marrakech at 8:00 AM. Departure time is agreed at booking — 8:00 AM is the recommended start to give you maximum time at the falls. Your air-conditioned vehicle heads northeast out of Marrakech across the Haouz plain before climbing into the olive-covered foothills of the Middle Atlas. The journey takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours and the landscape becomes increasingly dramatic as you leave the city behind.
Midway Comfort Stop — approx. 9:00–9:15 AM
Approximately one hour into the drive, your driver stops at a café for a coffee, tea, snack, and restroom break. Refreshments are available to purchase and are not included in the tour price. A welcome pause before the second half of the drive through the Atlas foothills.
Arrival at Ouzoud Waterfalls — approx. 11:00–11:30 AM
Your driver parks near the entrance to the Ouzoud site and you begin your visit. From the car park, a short walk through olive groves and local craft stalls leads you to the first viewpoint — where the full scale of the three-tier waterfall becomes visible for the first time. The sound, the mist, and the sheer scale of 110 metres of falling water make this one of the most powerful natural moments available anywhere in Morocco.
If you have selected the optional certified guide, your guide meets you here and leads you through the site — down to the base of the falls, across the river by wooden bridge, up to the panoramic ridge viewpoints, and through the story of Ouzoud’s geology, ecology, and the surrounding Berber communities.
If you prefer free time, you are completely independent — explore at your own pace, find your favourite viewpoint, swim in the natural pools at the base of the falls, and watch the wild Barbary macaques at close range. Lunch on a riverside terrace above the falls is one of the most memorable meals available near Marrakech.
You have approximately 3 to 3.5 hours at the falls — enough to do everything.
Departure from Ouzoud — approx. 3:00 PM
Your driver meets you at the agreed meeting point at 3:00 PM. The return journey to Marrakech begins, passing back through the Atlas foothills and Haouz plain.
Return Comfort Stop at Tamallalt — approx. 4:15 PM
On the return leg, your driver stops in Tamallalt for a final comfort break — coffee, tea, a cold drink, or simply a chance to stretch before the last section of the drive back to Marrakech.
Arrival in Marrakech — approx. 6:00 PM
Your driver drops you back at your accommodation in Marrakech at approximately 6:00 PM. Your evening is entirely free — dinner in the medina, a rooftop sunset, or simply a well-earned rest after one of Morocco’s finest days out.

Frequently Asked Questions
How far are the Ouzoud Waterfalls from Marrakech?
The Ouzoud Waterfalls are approximately 150 km northeast of Marrakech. The drive takes 2.5 to 3 hours each way on a well-maintained road through the Haouz plain and Middle Atlas foothills. Your driver makes two comfort stops — one on the way there and one on the return.
Is this a private or shared tour?
This is a 100% private excursion. Your vehicle is reserved exclusively for your group. You will never share with other travellers at any point during the day. This means complete flexibility over pace, stops, and time spent at the falls.
Is the guide at Ouzoud included?
The guide at Ouzoud is an optional add-on that you can select at booking. It is not included in the base price. If you prefer free exploration time at the falls no guide is needed. If you want context, stories, and access to the best viewpoints with commentary, the certified local guide is highly recommended.
What time does the trip depart and return?
Departure is at 8:00 AM from your Marrakech accommodation. Your driver departs Ouzoud at approximately 3:00 PM, with a comfort stop in Tamallalt on the return. You arrive back in Marrakech at approximately 6:00 PM, leaving your evening free.
Is lunch included?
Lunch is not included. Several scenic terrace restaurants and riverside cafés at Ouzoud serve traditional Moroccan food — tagines, grilled meats, salads, and mint tea at local prices (approx. 150 MAD per person). Your driver can recommend the best spots on arrival. Eating above the falls with the cascade in view is one of the highlights of the day.
What is the best time of year to visit Ouzoud?
Ouzoud is spectacular year-round. The falls are at their most powerful between February and May when winter snowmelt feeds maximum water flow. Summer (July to September) offers the best swimming conditions in the natural pools. Autumn brings golden olive groves and softer light. Winter delivers dramatic water volume with snow-capped Atlas peaks visible in the distance.
Is the trip suitable for children?
Yes. The Ouzoud Waterfalls are suitable for families with children of all ages. Paths near the falls can be rocky and uneven in sections — comfortable trainers or walking shoes are recommended rather than sandals. The Barbary macaques are a favourite highlight for children. The certified guide option is particularly recommended for families.

We had an exceptional day thanks to our driver Karim. Very punctual, professional and attentive, he made the ride pleasant with his safe driving and interesting explanations about the area. Always smiling and ready to answer our questions, he put us at ease from the start. He even took the time to make sure we enjoyed our visit to Ouzoud Falls to the fullest. We visited the Ouzoudes waterfalls as a family. For this we left Marrakech with Oualid Mellouki as private driver. Very kind and considerate. He speaks French and English very well. Convenient to learn a lot about the country and the ride passes faster. We also showed each other some music. The ride went very well, comfortable and modern car. We recommend it without problem.
