One hour south of Marrakech, the Ourika Valley is one of Morocco’s most rewarding natural escapes. Carved by the Ourika River through the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains, this green valley is home to cascading waterfalls, ancient Berber villages, terraced gardens, and some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in the country.
Our Private Day Trip to Ourika Valley is the most comfortable and flexible way to experience this iconic destination. Unlike crowded group tours, your excursion is entirely private — your own vehicle, your own pace, your own guide. Your driver-guide picks you up directly from your riad, hotel, or apartment anywhere in Marrakech and leads you through a full day of authentic mountain discovery.
Along the route, you will stop at a traditional Berber market (on Mondays — the famous weekly souk of Tnine Ourika), explore authentic mountain villages, hike to the stunning Setti Fatma waterfalls, and visit a women’s argan oil cooperative where hand-pressed argan is produced and sold directly. A leisurely lunch at a riverbank Berber restaurant is highly recommended and available on-site.
Whether you are travelling as a couple, a family, or a small group, this private day trip offers an unforgettable contrast to the heat and energy of the Marrakech medina — cool mountain air, fresh river breezes, and the warm hospitality of the Berber people.
Book your private Ourika Valley day trip today and discover why this valley is one of the most loved excursions from Marrakech. We handle everything — all you need to do is enjoy the journey.

🗺️ WHAT TO EXPECT
MORNING — PICKUP & DRIVE TO THE VALLEY (approx. 7:30–9:00 AM)
Your driver-guide will collect you directly from your accommodation in Marrakech at an agreed time — most guests prefer a 8:00 or 8:30 AM departure to enjoy the cool morning air and make the most of the day. You will head south along the Route d’Ourika, quickly leaving the city behind as the landscape opens up into olive groves, red earth plains, and the first Atlas foothills. Your guide will share the history and culture of the region throughout the journey.
MONDAY OPTION — TNINE OURIKA BERBER SOUK (approx. 9:00 AM)
If your excursion falls on a Monday, you will have the rare chance to stop at the famous weekly rural market of Tnine Ourika. Farmers and villagers from surrounding mountain communities gather to trade livestock, fresh produce, spices, handmade crafts, and clothing. It is one of the most authentic and atmospheric traditional souks near Marrakech — a world away from the tourist markets of the medina.
ARGAN OIL COOPERATIVE VISIT (approx. 9:30–10:00 AM)
Stop at a certified women’s argan cooperative and discover the traditional process of hand-cracking argan nuts, cold-pressing pure argan oil, and producing cosmetic and culinary argan products. You can taste, smell, and purchase 100% authentic argan oil directly from the women who make it — a far superior product to anything sold in Marrakech’s tourist shops, and a purchase that directly supports local women’s economic independence.
BERBER VILLAGE WALK (approx. 10:00–11:30 AM)
Your guide will lead you on a relaxed walk through one of the valley’s traditional Berber villages. Stone houses cling to the hillside above terraced herb gardens. Families go about their daily lives — women weaving, men tending mules, children heading to school. This is genuine Berber mountain life, and your guide will help you connect with it respectfully and authentically. A spontaneous mint tea stop at a local home is always possible.
SETTI FATMA & THE WATERFALLS (approx. 11:30 AM–1:30 PM)
The highlight of the day: the Setti Fatma waterfalls. From the village of Setti Fatma at the end of the valley road, a clear path follows the river upstream to a series of seven cascading waterfalls and natural pools. The hike to the first waterfall takes 30–45 minutes and involves rocky terrain and river crossings via stepping stones — manageable for most fitness levels and older children. Your guide accompanies you throughout. Swimming is possible at the pools in warmer months.
LUNCH BY THE RIVER (approx. 1:30–3:00 PM)
Enjoy a long, relaxed lunch at one of Setti Fatma’s scenic riverside restaurants — tables set directly over the rushing Ourika River, shaded by bamboo terraces. A classic Berber menu of harira soup, slow-cooked lamb or chicken tagine with bread, and fresh fruit is followed by a pot of fresh mint tea. Lunch is optional and paid separately on-site (approx. 150 MAD per person). Your guide will recommend the best table in the house.
RETURN TO MARRAKECH (approx. 3:00–5:00 PM)
After lunch, your driver brings you back to Marrakech at a relaxed pace, with optional stops for photos along the way. You will typically arrive back at your accommodation between 4:30 and 5:30 PM, leaving your evening completely free to explore the medina, enjoy a rooftop sunset, or rest before dinner.
Your itinerary is fully flexible. More time at the waterfalls, fewer stops, a later departure — just tell us at booking and we will adjust to your preferences.

Frequently asked questions
How far is Ourika Valley from Marrakech?
The Ourika Valley is approximately 60 km south of Marrakech city centre. The drive takes 45 to 60 minutes depending on traffic. The village of Setti Fatma at the far end of the valley is about 67 km from Marrakech.
Is this a private or shared tour?
This is a 100% private excursion. Your vehicle is reserved exclusively for your group. You will never share with other travellers. This gives you complete flexibility over timing, pace, and what you choose to include or skip.
What vehicle options are available?
We offer three categories: Economy Sedan for 1 to 3 passengers, Comfort Van for 4 to 6 passengers, and Luxury Van (Mercedes or equivalent) for groups of 4 to 6 who prefer a premium experience. All vehicles are fully air-conditioned and maintained to professional tourist transport standards.
Is the waterfall hike suitable for children?
Yes. The hike to the first Setti Fatma waterfall takes 30 to 45 minutes and is manageable for children aged 7 and above with appropriate footwear. We recommend trainers or walking shoes — sandals are not suitable. The hike can be shortened at any point based on your group’s comfort level.
Is lunch included in the price?
Lunch is not included in the base price but is highly recommended. Riverside Berber restaurants at Setti Fatma serve a full traditional meal (harira, tagine, bread, mint tea) for approximately 150 MAD per person. Your guide will recommend the best option on the day.
What time does the trip start and finish?
Departure time is flexible and agreed at booking — most guests leave between 7:30 and 9:00 AM. The full tour lasts 8 to 9 hours, so you will typically return to your Marrakech accommodation between 4:00 and 5:30 PM, with your evening free.
What is the best season to visit Ourika Valley?
The valley is beautiful year-round. Spring (March to May) offers lush green scenery and mild temperatures. Autumn (September to November) is ideal with golden landscapes and comfortable hiking weather. Summer visits are refreshing as the valley is noticeably cooler than Marrakech. In winter, snow caps the upper Atlas peaks, creating stunning views.
Can I customize the itinerary?
Absolutely. This is one of the key advantages of a private tour. If you want to skip the souk, spend extra time at the waterfalls, or add a specific stop, simply mention it at booking or discuss it directly with your driver on the day.

Fantastic trip would highly recommend!!! Five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – Omar was superb, he sent us a WhatsApp msg with a photo of his transport to assist in finding t him & he met us near our Riad on time. We stopped at a few local places on the way to the waterfalls, including a camel ride, tagine pottery factory, argon oil producer & other local beauty spots with Moroccan arts & crafts. The trip ended with a beautiful Moroccan lunch by the river with monkeys watching over us in the trees. Excellent value!
